IMHO: If not to old and worn out, send it to Garrett for servicing.

There are 6 settings on the carrot. You may have changed the settings. Check instructions.

I checked the settings. Made sure it was good.

Will contact Garrett.

settings can be tricky

And never use the pinpointed for a digging tool. It may be shorting out. I had it happen with the old black one. Good luck.

From the Owners Manual:
Changing Settings

The Pro-Pointer AT has 3 sensitivity settings & 2 detection settings:
Auto-plus-Vibrate or Vibrate only (silent).
To enter adjustment mode, press & hold the button for 2 seconds -- indicated by a single beep followed by a dual tone beep & flashing LED.
(note: In silent mode, beeps are replaced by vibration pulses.)
The first button press after entering adjustment mode indicates the current setting. Repeatedly press the button to cycle through the settings.

1 beep = minimum sensitivity with audio
2 beeps = medium sensitivity with audio
3 beeps = maximum sensitivity with audio
1 vibrate = minimum sensitivity/silent
2 vibrate = medium sensitivity/silent
3 vibrate = maximum sensitivity/silent

what he said

I found out the problem. The problem is that I was using Duracell batteries. Put Energizers in and the issue stops. Put the Duracells back in and the issue returns.

Try a quarter on top of the duracell then close the lid. See if you can use them then.

lol thats true same with some detecters

I use raovacs. they last as long as the two big names mentioned and cost is much lower. I bought a 12 pack of 'em at Lowe's last spring for $9.97 plus tax. (they were on sale) Never had an issue using them in any of my Garrett pinpointers.

I've used Duracell, Energizers, and the BJ's brand batteries with no issues in my carrot. Did you lose the little rubber button from inside the cap?
