Left the battlefield and returned to the Union camp. Found a few things - frag, round balls, 3 ringer, bucks and caps.

But also what I think must be a carved bullet. I haven't found a lot of carved lead and I don't know what this was supposed to be, but I can't think of any scenario where this would occur without purposeful human carving. Any thoughts about what if anything, it was supposed to be?

Looks carved to me. Sometimes soldiers carved lead just to pass time, like whittling. Could have been an unfinished piece or just a random carving. Maybe a game piece? Cool no matter what the story was though.

Probably a carved chess piece. A pawn maybe.

Awesome! Looks carved to me

Looks like a carved one. You may find more if it was a game piece.

Great find and it really does make one wonder what the soldier's finished piece was meant to be.

IMO
Def, Carved ..
Man it's Small Compared to the percussion Caps.

Also Look's to once have been a "Swaged" or Pressed & Turned Minie at one time.

Looks like it could be in the shape of a Diamond or Gem of some sort as Quindy stated.
I would think Acorn but the Flat top takes that thought away.

A nice piece IMO.

Davers

Sounds like you got some Nice Sites to hunt as well...
