Hello all...
Went out to the local Casino (rhymes with Box Goods) with my sweetie on Thurs. and searched Kennedy halves for 7 hours, ended up with 45 65-69s ( no elusive 70s) and 8 1964's.
We have not done this for awhile, as the last trips barely were worth the effort. I was beginning to think that with silver near $14, the counters were being calibrated a little better as to spit out the silvers, but Thurs my fears were put to rest.
I still have to go through a lot of halves to find silver, though. I figure that between the drinks and food, the two of us searched throught about 30 buckets of 10 rolls apiece, which means we were only finding one silver per 5-6 rolls. But the conveniece of it all and the speed at which we can go through them mitigated the poor odds.
Go figure, poor odds at a casino...
The drinks helped as did the curious looks from the counter workers who were quick to mention that we could use bills in the machines instead. My response, as always, was " I lose the money slower this way."
Oh, some disheartening news. One of the counter ladies mentioned that they were going to be removing the half dollar machines within the next 6 months. I hope that she was misinformed.
I do not post here much, but love reading the stories from you all. Keep it up; we will all have a big party when silver hits $30 per oz.
