✅ SOLVED Cast Iron Ashtray, is it possible?

Well this thing weighs 3 pounds and looks like a cast iron ashtray, any other ideas would be most welcome.

Found in a field about a foot down. Nothing else around it.

I thought that at first but can see nothing that would suggest it attached to anything other than the "teeth" inside it.

Maybe a foot from a bumper jack.

Do some electrolysis on it and use it for an ashtray.
No one will steal it.

Kind of looks like the bottom of a crankcase off a tractor?
More than likely farm machinery related considering where you found it.

Now I just have to figure out how it got into a middle of a field that is nowhere near a road. The nearest tarmac road is 3 miles away.

Nothing nearby at all so now thats the next part of the puzzle

My initial guess would be that it was dug up and hauled away along with the dirt and debris during a road reconstruction project which was then dumped or used as fill dirt.

or possibly plowed up with snow during a big storm and then hauled away and dumped in the middle of the field during the snow cleanup
