Found this at an old farm house in Indiana. Could some one help me with information. How old? It has some weight to it so I figured it was cast iron. Could it possobly be from the Civil War?

Any metal facilities around there?

Looks like the ladles they use for pouring metals.

It is a melt pot for melting lead to pour into bullet molds.

....and a big one at that!!I guess it could be for casting soap as well?
