Re: Cast metal decorative bell shaped thingy

That has to be a bell like SS mentioned. What is the composite Doug? That will help date it better. It's not "pot metal" is it?

Mikey,
I have no idea. Would pewter be out of the question? I've found some Colonial buttons in the past that seem to be the same metal. A somewhat deteriorated type metal. :dontknow:

I agree with SS, I think it's a Butler's Bell too. Nice find  Breezie

Re: Cast metal decorative bell shaped thingy

Thanks everyone. We'll consider this one solved as a butlers bell.

Didn't we figure out that it would not "ring" because of the metal it was made of?
I think it was made of pot metal. It sure does look like a bell. But when we hit it with a dig tool it did not make a ring sound at all. :dontknow:

Rob,
In those days the rich property owners did not ring the bells to call the butler, they threw them at them. That is the reason I found it outside, because the butler had enough and was running for his life. They went through a lot of butlers in those days. :tongue3: :laughing9:
Heck, I have no clue what it is? :dontknow:
