I went to the beach to hunt the dry sand. After a couple of unproductive hours(except for loads of clad) I decided to head back to the truck for a water break. As I was crossing the beach to the parking lot, heard a mid-tone beep, looked down, and sitting right on top of the sand was a ring so big and gaudy I thought it must be gold-colored junk or gold-plated at best. ......or perhaps not.
I placed the ring quickly in my pouch with the feigned insouciance that is the primary defense of the beach hunter. Many greedy eyes are upon you, and a two karat diamond must be treated with the same aplomb as a pulltab.
Back at the truck, I looked at the ring again and realized it was much better quality that I had thought at first. Flipped it over and yes!- a karat mark. And it's large- probably twice the gold of a regular sized ring.
After arriving home, I was going to take a photo of it for my records and threw it on the bed. When I turned back, my brother's cat, of whom I am temporary guardian, had jumped on the bed and you can see what ensued:
