Got out to a cellar Sunday i found by scanning the woods with Google..
2thumbsup.gif

It was about an hour drive west into CT..The cellar was not on any maps and i was not sure a cellar was even out there..But walls in the middle of woods usually is a sign..It was absolutely beautiful out there and the liberty to do so was such a great feeling:icon_thumleft:

So i headed out on no paths just rough woods that ended up being like a mountain..Finally i came across the walls and sure enough there it was a nice early cellar..:headbang:
Well i fired up the T2 and shortly realized this site has been hit
blink1.gif
I was able to pull some buttons and a counterfeit ship type coin..
And a unknown object on the way out that looks like something for sewing that seems to be later than the cellar
dunno.gif

This is the second one of these i found over the years..Any ideas:icon_scratch:Looks Victorian and i know the cellar was abandoned long before that..
This site was probably hit by one of the CT Cellar Dwellers im sure:unhappysmiley:Those boys dont miss much!!
Glad i got out,got some hiking in and had the Liberty to do so..You never know when the Tyrants will take it away they banned Metal detecting in Russia last year

Here is a great speech by Patrick Henry it is kind of long but worth a watch it pertains to our current way of life...

Wow, what an adventure, that's pretty cool. Nice finds, there is allot of gold left on your button and those coins cleaned up very nice too. The ones I find are almost always toast.

Im thinking pipe tamper

Your ship coin reminds me of a Rhode Island piece, but not exactly
that might be an avenue on your research

Good effort JB....keep hitting those sites as long and as hard as you can.

Good detective work finding the cellar hole. Congrats on your finds! I see your T2 wanted to get in the pic too!

Great job with the research JB, but a bummer that site had already been hit. At least you were able to take home a few nice finds. That ships coin or token is very interesting. Hopefully you can ID that soon.

Very nice finds, JB.
The rocks with the ice coming out is really cool, too!!
The weather this past weekend was a tease, and now we are going to pay for it. (again)
Good luck out there!!!

Joe

It looks to me like it's a 1794-95 Talbot Allum & Lee Cent

AWESOME research BLAZE!!!! SWEET site pics also!! HH....

nice finds congrats HH

The site may have been hit, but no sites are ever completely worked out and obviously your site is no exception. Congratulations on the saves. :headbang:

Makes me just marvel at the times gone by. Can you just imagine? A young boy going out in their "yard" back then? They'd see this wall and it would be just an every day sight and the surroundings, just plain old home. Kinda neat to let the mind wander back ain't it.

Nice finds! Nice place!

As usual, great pics and finds JB. The "pipe tamper" or whatever it is a very ornate relic. You are a CHD (cellar hole detective) my friend. WTG, Q.

Have detector will travel! Everywhere I hunt is an hour away but if you got to do what you got to do. Great finds.

BTW, my daughters babysitter lives on Patrick Henry's boyhood plantation land. He was a great orator and Patriot!

Very nice finds! Thanks for sharing the experience!

What told you it had been hit before? I recently stumbled on a colonial site here in NC and all I could hear was the low grumble of iron. All I really dug was square nails and a broken harmonica reed. I'm also not used to woods hunting and there was a layer of about 2" of brush and vegetation that could be scraped away. Do you just go over top of it?
Maybe I'll go back and really go slow and pick through the iron. But in an hour I only picked 1 high tone through the iron with my iron audio.

Nice finds! Nice place!

At our age, a wandering mind is inevitable, lol.
