Hi Everyone,
As a newbie both in this forum and as a metal dector ite I have a question about whether or not I can smelt scrap gold/silver using a kiln made for ceramics. This kiln can reach temperatures of 2350 degrees.. I would certainly appreciate any feedback . :)Thanks for any help i can get

That should work but remember they just passed a new federal law that makes it illegal to melt down coins. Monty
 

The melting point of silver is 1760 degree F.....Gold is roughly 200 degrees higher.....Your kiln should work. Just remember that I am talking about PURE metals. If you have 14 k gold then you still have ten parts out of 24 that need to be removed. That can get tricky.

thanks to all that replied and I have no intrest in melting coins just scrap. The coins will be used as mad money lol :)
