"charcoal fussion gas works[1860] to sour duck slug hole"
Hi all, i was going away this week-end but things changed.Long weekend here, Labour Day Monday
. well with so much time on my hands.I planned to hit large area next to and behind the ols gas works.The bendigo Gas Works was built in 1860 and produced gas from charcoal untill the 1940's then was used as a natural gas storage until 1974.This site has heritage listing so no Mding on the site.There was numerous unreserved land which you can m.d.behind is a lrge block that backs onto the creek and 2 large side blocks.On the other side is an large Victorian Mansion and the Tyson's Reef hotel [1854] In the middle of the road is a hundred year old tram track The trams still run to this day.Tram service yard is at the far end of the street.Over the back of the gasworks across the creek is that drying up lake i have been digging.Here a heap of pics of sites, gas works, tram going by and more of the drying up lake and finds of course.
