Charleston SC (metal detecting)

I have been coming up to SC and brought my MD. I was looking for any good spots other then Folly Island and Sullivan Island. I would like to try and find some old coins. I dont know if there are good (safe) or bad areas to stay away from.

We have never had much luck out on Sullivan's but Folly has some nice spots. If you stick between 10th street and the pier your likely to find some ones lost treasures. One end of the beach is off limits because of the Save the Light Project but the other has been reopened as a county park. They hold parties and wedding ceremonies out there and are detecting friendly.
