Hey everybody!

Got out for a couple hours this afternoon. The sunshine was glorious and too much to pass up.

Didn’t have a lot of high tones today so I focused on the mid and low tones. Lots of deep wheats and a surprise war nickel on a nasty low tone signal.

War nickel is 1943. The mint mark looks non-existent (though I know that’s impossible). One of the wheats is a semi-key 1912-S. Pretty happy with that, never found that date before!

Good luck out there and happy hunting.

Nice digs! You've got your work ahead of you cleaning those wheats!

Those are “clean”. [emoji23] wheats get killed in our soil. I ran them through soap and water and tooth-picked them already. Occasionally I’ll give acid baths but not today.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Nice old coin shooting! :occasion14:

Thanks Tommy! I’ve been fortunate that a couple permissions have turned out nicely. I have a couple more coming down the pipe so hopefully those pan out in the next couple months too!

If there's no apparent mintmark, you may have yourself a scarce Henning counterfeit. I would like to see a closeup of the coin to see.

Interesting. Doesn’t seem like a fit since mine is 1943 but here are the pics.

If I had to hazard a guess I’d say its most likely an S being on the West Coast but it’s just impossible to make anything out.
