Radio Shack has a metal-mineral detector for about $40 new. Yard sale price on these is about $10. You can use this puppy for sorting ore from tailings piles. Take home any that beep and if they all beep get yourself an assay and refile the claim. They have the added advantage of breaking down and fitting in a back pack for those places where you don't want to be seen carrying a detector for whatever reason. Exanimo, SS

Have finally gotten most of my Do it yourself magnetometer information together. Attached is a copy of the 1968 "The Amateur Scientist" article of Nicholas Wadsworths home built differential proton magnetometer. hope it down loads OK.
