I have a Sovereign xs2a-pro with a 10" coil (heavy) and was continually frustrated with the coil dropping on me (ie not staying parallel to the ground during hunting). This is due to the poor design of the coil where it attaches to the stick. The plastic screw that fits through there is way too small and if you try and crank down on it to tighten it up it just spins or snaps. This is not a good way to start a detecting trip.
I was at our local detector meeting the other night and noticed one of the club members had a white colored bolt in this area of his detector. I asked him about it and he said the "toilet section" at home depot had plastic bolts. I liked the idea, so I got some larger 1/4" wide nylon bolts. Then drilled out the hole slightly to fit this bolt. Now the coil is nice and tight with just the right amount of play.
Does anyone else have this problem? Try this, but use caution to drill the holes out so they are straight.
