I found this relic hunting. First gold item ever found. The outside is toasted but the inside looks good. Inscribed on the inside"14k" with a little crown symbol. Not sure if it's civil war. Or modern

No real gold would be toasted on the outside. Unfortunately you have a plated ring. Lots of old fakes out there. It is probably old.

When you find a real 14k you will know the difference. Congrats on getting out and finding something.

Now.....let's be fair here. Even if the ring is "plated"....it IS a REAL gold ring!

Anyone that don't believe that, just mail your plated rings to me.
