Cool, Is the other side normal?

Yes, the back is perfectly normal.

that kinda looks like a weak strike error maby ??? if so that could be worth
i guess it could be some very odd wear but seems unlikley.
ide ask a coin shop if i where you.

You've got a filled die, which is a mint error. I found one similar to yours in a roll some months ago, brought it to a coin dealer for an informal appraisal, and was told that it was worth around $10 (although the dealer made no effort to buy it from me, nor did I broach the subject). According to the dealer, filled die errors are rather common in small coins, such as cents, but much less so in larger coins. When they occur(ed) in large dollar coins, they were avidly sought out by collectors. Filled dies (the result of grease clogging part of the die, the grease being used as a coolant or lubricant during the stamping process) are not terribly common in half dollars. I would certainly not get rid of the coin.

Nice find. Since you seem to be geared toward saving for posterity, I would put it away. Bongo

It could also be a die-adjustment strike....Those are a bit more valuable I think....

Cool!
No doubt about that being an error!
Better than a 90%!

LJ, what is the date on that coin? Looks like two 0s in the photo. 2000? or possibly >2001?
