Ha........ didn't get it in the die. Safe to say not many of those get out. Neat.:icon_thumright:

really awesome mint error!!! that could be worth quite a lot of money, considering how drastic the error is!
HH

I am hoping the coin guy will offer big or knows people that will offer nice for it, hard to value something like that.

very cool error

Awesome, I've never seen anything like that before! Hopefully, it's worth a million!!!

For what it might be worth one day i would try and hang on to that for a while.Thats an awesome find.

That's a cool find.

They sell those for $25 in a mall close to me.

Coin guy said with out the date, its not worth much.

That's really neat. I would call it a keeper!

I can tell you that even without the date, that's worth a lot more than a normal penny! Congrats!

Well for now I will hold on to it. It is cool.

I know you're tempted to sell it, but I'd wait at least 2 or 3 years. Finds like this one don't turn up often, and age magnifies their value many times.

Alan, we have had the penny for years, the coin guy was sure it was a copper penny, but he said it wasn't worth much, because there is no date on it.

Back in the 80's my mom was the reserve teller at a local bank, which meant she handled all the money in the place at some point, and was the first to see all the new money that came in from the fed. Anyway in 83 or 84 I think she brought home probably thirty off struck pennies like that. I had forgotten all about that until I saw this post, and now I'm thinking I should ask if she still has any of them.

It's too bad it doesn't have a date but it's still a great find!

Never, ever, ever.... Rely on a coin guy or store to give you a price.... Its worth at least 2x what a coin guy will ever tell you.... Trust me on this one I know from experience !! Get yourself a coin book or "Red Book" !!
As for the coin since the strike is off by *So much* its worth more than one that is less off center. My 2010 red book, I need a new one... It should always be current... Say's that it is worth $8.00 seeing how its dramatically off center I'd see it going for more maybe $20 or so sounds right... However I would not sell it if you can. Since we are likely to get rid of the cent I'm sure its value will increase...

Keep @ it and HH !!
