Hello Tnet found this ring on a field with history dating back to the middle ages.
At first glance I thought it was a bird ring but I cant see nummers or letters. i don't know what material its made of. To heavy for alu, to light for lead.. Maybe brass but without the colour ??
Sorry only got a 9mm bullet for measurements..

You may have to scrape an edge or soak it in something to remove some of the crusty buildup so you can tell the type of metal. There might be some identifying marks inside the band once it's cleaned up a bit.

I see the ridging on both rims - what does air testing show?

It is easy scratchable i guess lead or pewter.
Cant seem to find any numbering on the ring

I have never seen a ring made of lead or pewter. Clean it a little and see what you get. May not be a ring?

I've found quite a few rings over the years either copper or bronze which were probably silver plated at one time...not every one could afford silver or gold so it was a compromise for the people who were less well off.

Here's a fancier modern version that's made with copper and mother of pearl on the front.

Bill
