i got one of these chinese detectors for my grand daughter and after some tests i rate it as good or maybe even better on smaller coins like dimes then my old fisher 1225 ..yes am cheap but if the thing lasts a year i got my moneys worth ...does any one remember when the fisher 1225 came out ???? i had it so long i cant remember maybe 30 to 40 years ago ??? its the white 8" coil model ...the chinese detector coil about 6 1/2 inches ... its possibles this detector is a copy same freq and 2 9v batteries as the 1225 ... i guess only time will tell... yes its made out of cheap plastic but today kids cant keep there eyes off that cellphone so a $600 detector would be a waste of money ...

The earliest that I can find the 1225 advertised in my old catalogues is 1998 and it was about 600 dollars Australian then. I don't know what that would be in USD back then.
The 1225 may have been around before then but I am not sure.

what was aussie dollars worth back in 1998 ?? i know i could never of spent any where near that amount ... i have to look at old photo and try to figure out how old it is ....i have trouble remembering what i did 5 minutes ago....

ADRAIN found a photo dated 1989 so its 30 years old if a paid over $ 300 i was crazy ....

Just got word from Fisher Labs and their long time tech said the `1225 was produced from 1986 until 2001.

There was also a 1225 X

If you give them the serial number they will be able to tell you when your tecta was made.

Cheers
Adrian
