There's so many reproductions that look like that vase and other Chinese ceramics in these large thrift stores, it makes me wonder if any of the ones I see are something worth a fortune ? ... My guess is most likely not, but I sure could accumulate a large collection of look a likes for a fraction of what that vase went for.

you have look at the stamp on the base, the "Emperors stamp"

Some will even have marks that look like that. I did find this silver vase that is old and I'm sure is worth more than I paid, but it's Japanese. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/446806-silver-vase-any-clues-its-origin.html#post4416296
The member who helped couldn't come up with how to pronounce the makers name in our language. I cut and paste the Asian symbols he typed, but it only lead me to a site that was all written in Japanese. I converted it all to English and it still didn't tell me a whole lot other than it was a silver tea pot in an auction in Japan I believe.
 

Thats alot of money I might do 100 not my thing
