Cibola on the Beaches of Fla????

Any one know how the Tesoro Cibola would respond on the wet sand on the beaches of Florida?

I am not wanting to hunt the water with it, but want to use it for some beach seeded hunts and on the wet sand. One for sale has been moditified with an external manual GB so it can be ground balanced.

Appreciate any info.....

I've only used a Cibola once on a saltwater beach and it went crazy. I would think one with a manual GB would be fine. I also think a Excal would be better as you don't want to waste time digging up junk.

I agree with Dr. Detroit, the Cibola is not the machine for a salt water beach. The Tiger Shark, Sand Shark, Lobo, Tejon, and others in the Tesoro line would be the choice. PM me if you need any further info. Joe

I have 2 Excals and a Sov GT now, I was asking because I am looking for a unit I could use for competition seeded beach hunts. Looking for something that is not affected by other units close to it and I knew the Cibola has a freq shifter.

Just got a Cibola with the ground balance modification. Took it out this morning. It worked great on the beach and wet sand down to the water line. I,ve been in the hobby on and off since 1969. This machine is a keeper.

Still looking for a wading machine.

Forget about the Cibola in wet salt sand.

My Cibola runs great in the dry sand and sand that is slightly damp at saltwater beaches.

In wet salt sand or heavily damp salt sand it chokes.

From what I have been able to understand the VLF machines will work in either wet salt sand or mineralized soil but not both. I have a Tejon and at the beaches of Northern NC (Nags Head) no amount of ground balancing or sensitivity adjustments will shut it up! It does work very good and deep in the same dry sand. Now from what I understand the northeast beaches are highly mineralized and Florida beaches are not but I would check with others from your area on this board. I was considering a Tiger Shark (VLF) but after talking to Tesoro Tech Department I will get the Sand Shark (PI) its just a much better choice for my area! For what its worth -Mike
