Dug this small brass item in a know civil war camp. Item is beside a dropped Enfield for size reference.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

It is a strap-tip from the straps on an antique valise and similar "luggage." See the photos. The ones there have a more pointed leading end but otherwise the shape is the same as yours, including the three rivets for attachment to the leather strap.

Credit for the photos goes to my fellow What-Is-It? forum relic ID helper BuckleBoy, who first posted them here when this type of object came up for ID years ago.
