This has been my first opportunity to do any beach detecting. We decided to hit the beach early in the morning but had no luck. There was a town park nearby and we headed over there to see what we could find. Early in the morning I was joking around with dad that if we hit that park that would would find Civil War relics and to my surprise we actually did. I was down in the tot lot while dad was going around the side up into the wooded area. I went to see what he was doing and he had a solid dime signal on his Garrett ace 250. The hole he was digging was around 6 inches deep. He got it out of the hole and was wiping it off and it was a 3 ringer. This is our first civil war related find and we're pretty exited. The park is about 5 miles from Fort Macon. I know the monetary value is minimal , but it is still an awesome find for us.
