Found this in a well producing area. Initially I thought it was a shot smooth-bore. Having cleaned it I've uncovered what looks like a recessed base and rifling on the business end. I'm leaning toward a modern round but the oxidation / patina looks consistent with the era. Any ideas?

Looks like a modern shotgun slug, partial piece anyway

Yep. Looks like a .410 slug assuming you have about half of it. May be larger bore if that's not as big a chunk. That style (Foster) puts it after 1931 to present day.
