This rascal is big. I’m in the field so I can’t measure but looks like at least . 69 caliber. Any ideas ? 32D3802C-AB46-4A28-BFA0-F29CA1742F66.webp629F7CD7-E894-4522-91FF-D3C7DD2B3BE6.webp629F7CD7-E894-4522-91FF-D3C7DD2B3BE6.webp

Nice. I don't think I have a .69 cal. Enfield.

I'm not sure they made a .69 Enfield. I think you have a Tower.

That civil war .69-caliber Minie-bullet is listed in the bullet books as a Tower, because it was made for use in the .69 Tower-Enfield rifle-musket. Yours appears to be the British-made version, which has a flat-bottomed "plug" cavity instead of a cone cavity. It's a fairly scarce bullet. Most that have been dug come from the Confederate entrenchments at the Port Hudson LA battlefield... which "fits" with you being a Louisiana digger.

Cannonball, you are dead on. I found it this morning at Port Hudson.
