(Solved) Civil war camp handmade silver pin.. but what's the design?

I found this today in one of the civil war camps I frequently hunt. You can see the carving all over it, but what was this meant to be or symbolize? It is very similar to some of the handmade corps badges I've seen. Is it possibly masonic related ???

Flip it over it kinda looks like an animal head, Might be some Indian trade silver.

Thanks guys, it has been id'ed on another forum as a piece of rifle stock inlay as seen on this gun... I'm assuming the hole was made later and worn as a pendant?
