Heres my finds from yesterday. We went to two different sites me and my hunting buddy for the day, Louis. At the first site I picked up the sash buckle and the brass flag staff end and Louis lucked out and popped out a really nice Virginia Button! So after awhile we left that site and went on to a site in the city where I dug the rest of these items including the smashed but well gilted Indian Wars Eagle and the Civil War General Service Eagle button in which the wings have fallen out. Not a knock out day for me but still better than getting skunked and I had a good time as always, when I get out and DIG! :icon_thumleft:

I'm going to take another pic of the item on the top left. I believe that it may be part to a trigger guard but that photo isn't a good representation of the piece.

Some Great relics Josh. I have never found the brass end of a flag staff pole-that's big time cool. Acid rain and fertilizer ground actions are killing the Eagle buttons, aren't they? I agree on the trigger guard-one part actually looks like the trigger itself. The firearm experts out there will tell you. HH Bud!!!

Interesting finds. :)

Its actually some sort of safety. I have a new camera on its way....a late Christmas present....I'll post another photo of it and see if I can match it up to other trigger guards in my collection to get a proper I.D.

The "home stretch" and you're kickin' some serious butt Josh.....Great dig's my friend. Can't wait to see what you pull out at the DIV with that streak.Happy New Year Bud

Yeah, I've been getting out alot and taking advantage of this nice weather that we are having here in SE Virginia PERFECT digging weather 8) 8) We did get like a inch and a half of snow last week on the BIG dump, but it quickly melted the next day so its been OPEN SEASON to try to finish out the year with a bang. Hopefully we all will find a nice keeper at this next hunt.  Are you planning on attending?

Great hunt!!!
The little buckle on the left is common. I have four of them.
Any idea what exactly they are for???

Yeah I've got a ton of them as well. Most of those that are that sized D buckles were used on harnesses

You never let us down Josh.
That sure beats the quarter, nickel, and wheat I dug tonight. ;D
Good luck in 2010 buddy,
Doug
