Found on banks of the Ohio on Indiana side near Evansville, notice the federal eagle on the key-hole cover, possibly from a strong-box? anyone seen one of these? one can only imagine tons of federal gold drifting down the Ohio river ::)

Probably from a large steamer trunk of the period. (What's stamped on the upper left?)

On the upper left hand is what appears to be "Glissnich", and on the right is "Philidelphia"........fred

now thats cool. I like the find. heck the area may be worth the time to do a thorough sweep over.

Hey, Fred—

Is there any chance that the name on the left could be "C. LIEBRICH"?

C. Liebrich was a Philadelphia lock manufacturer from 1836 until 1869, when he retired and the company became known as Star Lock Works.

thats a really cool find! different.
