Civil War Hat Pin?

I went back out to the river where I found that nice button from last weekend and found this. It is about the size of a half dollar and has some decent weight to it. To me the back side seemed to have 4 tabs which are long gone. I'm thinking this may be a hat pin but hopefully somebody can help shed some light for me. Thanks for looking.

Looks like Spanish-American War or WWI period to me.

It's a civil war era horse bridle rosette, probably went on the blinder. Good find, look on ebay you see them sometimes. I believe all the civil war era ones are lead filled like yours.

Thanks a bunch to "gman17" for identifying my lead rosette. I found a few images which match my find exactly..........albeit mine is a little rough after sitting in the river for 150 years! Still a great find in my book.
