It does appear to be a kepi badge of some kind. If it's a Corps badge, I can't ID the corps from the shape...

I emailed a picture of it to the Seargent Riker site and he says it's the end of a belt, or tack belt. To me I can't see that..

I think it is a boss off a leather strap usually on a saddle.

Sorry to have to tell you, it is definitely not a US Army Corps badge, nor any other type of insignia. Sgt. Riker and Duggap are correct, it is a leather strap's tip. Its purpose was to make it easier to quickly fit/force the strap's end through a narrow slot or strap-holder. The long prong on the back, and another one which is missing, attached it to the leather.
