Relic Hunting
Boy today was a long day hunting in this heat. Tnrelicman and I started out hunting a civil war site in a very active area. One of the first things I found was brass ring thing. I don't know what it is yet but I have seen them on here before. Then I found a scabbard tip. No bullets or buttons this time but we did find several mason jar lids. There was the remains of an 1800's house in the field with only the chimney standing but was in heavy overgrowth so we will have to try it this fall/winter. Next we went to a field where the farmer has given us permission to hunt his property and the fields were freshly cut. A few relics have been taken from here in the past so we thought we would try it today again. After walking the rolling hills in the heat and no shade we decided to try some older homes with some shade and do a little coin hunting. We went to an old school and I found a 1951-D wheat penny. We then stopped for lunch and then went driving around and found another old house so we stopped to get permission. Tnrelicman found a couple very old wheats here 1918 and 1920 I think. We stopped and got permission to hunt another area for some more civil war relics but did not have any luck there. After a couple more stops we decided to call it a day. We did not find much today but anytime you are hunting with friends it is a good day.
