Found this class ring 10k the funny part is it was broke and then when I picked it up it broke again weird Ive never seen gold break like that. Also this piece with the chain I'm guessing a drain thingy ??? I love metal detecting a lot Ill admit when I find a ring I'm hoping theres no name in it but if there is Ill try to locate the owner if possible. I have found so many rings with my AT pro!!!! gold seems to always be a solid signal and does not fluxuate VDI more than one or two but the #1 way I have found 90% of my rings is by when I go to parks I go to trees and dig everything around the tree within 5 to six feet I guess that's where most people sit and are comfortable laying things down could just be me but it works great for me Thanks for looking!!!!!!! 20170123_201041.webp20170123_201129_001.webp20170123_201130_001.webp20170123_201148.webp20170123_201209.webp20170122_143512.webp20170122_143520.webp20170122_143537.webp20170122_143457.webp

Good going on the gold ring broken or not.....the lid with the chain is from an incense burner.

Nice ring save, Tommy.........
I like your ring searching method and have used it. Folks love to stretch out on a blanket in the shade...........
Good luck on the return!!

Thanks Chizzy its a very small school in a small town I found 3 people it could be Ill post if I find the person they might not want it back being broken Ill try!!!!

A gold ring in Michigan during January - doesn't get much better than that!

You hit it with your shovel?

I found a half of a ring last year. Drove me nuts not being able to find the little half.... broken or not- at least you have both pieces :occasion14:

Oh yea the cold doesn't bother me it was raining also.. only does when the ground is frozen solid . The good thing is when no one around I hit all the areas that are usually very crowded I might have hit the ring it was broke when I found it but when I pulled it out the other part snapped which was weird I thought it might not be gold I would never expect it to snap ;like that!!!!!!

A 10 K gold ring has less gold(41%) than others which makes it harder than other gold rings if it was softer, more pure it probably wouldn't have snapped plus the cold weather will affect metal making it brittle and prone to breaking.

Congrats on the ring recovery Tommy. You were due for another great find. Glad there were no dead cats found during this hunt. Good luck on the return. I see you are not a Pirate but rather a do-gooder like me. I agree with Bill, that one piece is a lid to an incense burner.

Nice ring. A jeweler can solder that but why so brittle?
Definitely an incense burner too.

Nice finds Tommy. I'm with all the rest on the incense burner.

It may have got a hit from a lawn mower ?
Good find, I have yet to get a gold class ring.
What's the year of the ring ?

Lawn aeration spikes will damage the goods also. In fact, most commercial mowers don't act like a vacuum with small dense items unless the deck is bottomed-out. Only a dumb operator would do that and mow. I ran 4 different top end brand name machines for a season and have ran over many things, but not many small rocks or rings get spit out unless the surface is unlevel and the deck is too low.

Good find. More are waiting!

The year is 1977 I found another with 1953 date . My AT pro hits a lot of my gold at a solid 42 43 and the numbers don't bounce more than one or two vdi like most pull tabs I have found gold at almost all vdi numbers but solid 42 I have found gold rings and a few bracelets. I like eliminating all accept 40 to 50 and just hunt those all day its fun a can pay off well and hit iron audio on your target you can hear iron hum most times great practice for me!!!

I have a Tiffany and company silver ring that got hit by something probaby an aeration spike, I think Ive dug a few of those if its what I'm thinking looks like a metal sharks tooth????

Good to see you got out and took advantage of your time, Sweet save!!

Hey Tommy smaller gold rings will ring up as foil, so when you hunt in the 40-50 range only, you are more than likely only going to dig big gold rings like class rings. I dug 10K wedding band and it rang in the lower foil range. I dig most mid tones that are solid IDs or only vary by 1 maybe 2 numbers. Only dug 4 gold items so far in 3 years.
