Yesterday I went back to the site with a friend of mine and started to dig the area where I left off on Sunday. A couple of hours later I happen to find the items in the pictures below along with a number of square nails and iron spikes. The silver chain was another surprise that happen to pop out. Now it looks like a common chain you see today, but looking at the links closely they are a crude type and how they were made is a good guess. Where it came from another good question. One of the coins found is dated 1838 everything else is older.

I will keep up dating our progress at this site as we continue our searches there! Also I thought the site may have been burned down , but after checking the item that we are recovering . There are no signs of fire damage to any of the glass or pottery shards that we are recovering. Thanks again..............

Great finds, Seeker!! ::)

An md'er from CA found a belt plate here that is similar, if not the same, as yours. He found it in one of the '49er mining camps in N. Cali...
