clean coins

If your cleaning IH's and wheats LC'S, use peroxide, let them sit in the peroxide for a day wipe it off if it needs more cleaning let it sit longer after that I put them in olive oil for a day...for silver coins just run them under soap and water, if a silver coin is black from cole ash in the soil then you can mix baking soda and water mix into a paste using your fingers and just rub the coin until the black comes off...Now just rember this if the coin is key date DONT TOUCH get your self a coin book and look before your clean... Best of luck to ya...

Thanks well give it a try was out today picked up a 1945 d wheat looks to clean up nice in good shape

I've never head of letting coins sit in peroxide for a whole day. The method I use for nickels, indians, and wheats (with beautiful results) is to boil peroxide in the microwave, then drop them in for a minute and a half or so, then take a toothbrush to them and all the dirt lifts off. Coat them with a very this coat of olive oil to make them shine. (wipe it off with paper towel, rags take off too much oil in my experience).

I'm not saying soaking them all day is wrong, don't take it that way, I just figured I'd post my method.

I've heard some people use a rock tumbler with warm water and a few drops of dish soap, and tumble coins of the same metal only, for 1-2 hours.
