Cleaned out my old car....

Yesterday I cleaned out my old car for trade-in. I found 2 rolls of halves, 2 rolls of dimes, 9 loose halves, 1 Ike dollar, 1 quarter, 4 dimes, 17 nickels, 20 pennies. These coins were under the seats or underneath the carpet, in dead corners, in crevices. I had to use a wire to retrieve one of the halves. I am sure I can find a few more coins if I can take the seats off and then the carpet off. As not a so old timer (4+years) I am surprised how many coins hiding in my car besides the coin cup.

Along the same vein, anyone ever thought of going to old car junkyards and checking for coins?

I have thought about it. There are plenty of junk yards around here with cars from the 30's to 60's. I would bet there could be plenty of silver under the carpets. If I get bored something this week, I will have to try it.

Along the same vein, anyone ever thought of going to old car junkyards and checking for coins?

I work as a recycled auto parts store and the car dismantlers go through every car, not so much for coins because I don't think any of them really care about little things like that but they do find a lot of larger items such as, oh... a shoe that still had a foot in it from a car accident. Ya, true story... I guess it was a pretty bad accident.

Okay, sorry.. back to talking about shiny coins.

Yes, I am talking about the life of a CRHer. A CRHer's car is full of coins inadvertently lost when he checks rolls or spoil out of bags. I bet many large volume CRHers can relate to this. It is one of the signs a CRHer pertains. A forum is for socializing on internet but not for scolding other members.

I worked at one as well, All Auto Parts in Fontana Ca, about 15 years ago. I found money on a regular basis, bills stashed away in the pockets on the back of the seats. Occationally would find rings and necklaces in the cars, under seats. I would check the cars pretty good. Back then they didnt sell performance parts so I could strip all the aftermarket parts off the car and sell those myself but they started doing Ebay sales after someone caught wind of what I saw doing. The worst I ever found was teeth in cars from accidents. I found change too but most the the cars were newer at the time 90's and up.

Whenever I clean my car out I try to be thourough and come up with coins often, because as you know youre not a real CRH if you haven't searcched rolls in your car.

Its getting to the point now where everyone is eBay conscious. My position with the company is actually as their eBay specialist. I wish I could go through the cars though

I've also searched rolls in my parents car, and after cleaning, they found a few memorial cents and an Irish 5 pence (large).
