Sweet! Nice one there.

;D Excellent coin ....thanks for sharing it with the forum...

Cool looking coin. What did you do to clean it. HH 'Burdie

fc,
Great piece of history! Were you able to ID the coin without the books? There's a bunch of kings and queens to keep up with. Here in the US the history is just starting in the 1600's.The coins came later...

Congrats,
Smartin ps..any idea of the value?

this is how i was told to clean it.
the results you can see for yourself(ie it worked)
take a piece of tin foil(baking foil) i'm not sure if you call it the same thing as us lol.
shiny side up,spit in the middle of it,
place the coin on it,
wrap it up and it should go warm and stink like really bad eggs.
after a minute or so,rinse it and it should be clean.
sounds disgusting but it works lol.
i tried it with some other silver coins and it worked to various degrees on them,
some it worked great and some didn't work at all.

i saw the same coin in a mgazine that i had, thats how i id'd it.
as for value,not much,
about ?30($52.69) i'd say.

Liverpool,

I'm in N. Yorks, near Otley, just north of Leeds/Bradford airport. Do you ever get out in the area? I'm looking for hunting grounds.

Johnny

Looks like a Scottish issue, judging from the thistle on the reverse?

What a great find!

Very nice coin, like the double strike! HH, Mike
