Cleaning coins with hot sauce

I used to do this with old coins when I worked at KFC a while back. I was wondering if I should continue doing this with any rare finds or not. It super clean's them and can bring out green and black coins shiny new again. I just didn't know if I should just leave them alone or clean them. I usually just put hot sauce on a plate put the coin on top them drip more on the top side and leave it for a an hour or so. Has anyone else done this before?
