Cleaning copper token

I ran across this in a jar, I remember cleaning this and then seeing letters and then stopping before I did damage. It could say anything, so it drives me crazy. It is worn and thin but the writing under the black crust should be readable. Thanks for any suggestions!

Nevermind, did a hydrogen peroxide bath and there was nothing there. So much for my retirement.
