I was wondering due to age, is it better to keep item as is, or clean to see if more is visible.5

Most sterling/925 silver without stones and gold jewelry can be cleaned and will certainly look better. I am guessing that ring is silver. If so, you can use baking soda, salt and boiling water to remove the tarnish. You line a small glass bowl with tinfoil, lay your ring in it, cover with baking soda and a dash of salt and then you pour boiling water over it and let it cool. Then wipe it with a soft cloth and most of the tarnish will come off. Gold usually just wipes clean with a soft cloth, or sometimes I use toothpaste.

Nice find, I bet it will cleanup real nice for display. :occasion14:

I would clean it if its silver its yours to enjoy. Tommy
