While I was in the shower, my wife said a Pileated WP flew into our living room window and knocked himself out. After I got out and dressed, he was still on the ground, but coming to. Had just enough time to grab the camera and take a few pics as he recovered, climbed the deck and flew to a tree. Glad he didn't break his neck.

Nice! My grandparents had a stand of oak and walnut trees in west central Indiana where a pair of pileated woodpeckers lived. People would come from all over to observe and photograph them.

I bet flying head first into a glass pane like that would be hard on the Becker.

Pleated woodpeckers are so neat to see. Thats a big bird to be hitting a window, ouch.
Had a sharpshin hit r basement window and busted it. I went out picked it up and held it till it could fly.

Glad it made it out okay.

Must of been a big bang! Glad it was ok in the end.
They're so cool, we have a pair that reside on the property.
Love seeing them land together on a tree, then play look at me going back and forth on either side of the trunk.
Never seem to have a good pic of them doing it as it happens so rarely.

When I was in grade school ( about 100 years ago) a bird flew into a window and layed there. Our teacher being concerned opened the window and put it on top of and empty desk. A few minutes later it came to and flew around crazy scared and crapped on half us kids & the teacher. We shooed it out quick!
