Great history and significance to an authentic Widow's Mite' (which this is not.)
The Bible story of the WM is related to Mark 12: 41-44. A poverty stricken widow offered everything she has, more than the others who offered only the excess of their abundance. The lesson implied it that the quality of a gift is much more important than the quantity.

The widow must have loved much...it reminds me a little of the account where the woman who poured an expensive perfume worth a year's wages on the feet of Jesus...wouldn't an authentic widow's mite be an amazing find...equivalent to a hay penny?
