One of the branches at my CU just got a new coin counter. I know it is the type that uses bins, but my question is how exactly do the bins work? And what happens when the bin gets full? I dumped more than $50.00 in pennies and it never stopped, just paused for a few seconds every once in a while. Any enlightenment of this subject would help greatly! Happy Hunting.

I like those machines - no stopping to change bags. The square, metal bins have wheels and a folding handle on them. They roll out an empty one to replace the full one and put a locking lid on it. The full one gets pushed back in the vault- quite heavy and usually has anywhere from $2,500 - $5,000 in it. I always offer to help pull them in and out of the machine for the tellers.
Here's a tip-
If the machine has a tray with a hinge on it that you can tip up and dump, look under the tray for fugitive coins. There always seems to be something under there from a previous customer.

...........as opposed to the individual bag coin counting machines; which typically have two bags for each denomination; except halves.
