Came across these two coins and trying to find out a little more information about them.

Some background story on how and where you got them would be nice. They look like Spanish cobs or reales. They look cool, as far as authenticity I wouldn’t know. But from what I’ve heard, old Spanish silver is the most counterfeited type of coin. Can’t wait for the experts to chime in!

I have just become recently fascinated with the shipwreck history here in Florida and the surrounding islands. Being located in Florida and on the eastern coast I'm sure that they are reales. Just not sure of authenticity myself, or wreck. A friend of my husbands owns a jewelry store and a client of his brought these in ( no history on the coins though.) He has let me take them to see what I can find out on them, and I couldn't refuse a little homework. I'm just starting out and am not very familiar with the assayar, mint markings etc.

IMHO, they are poor fakes of Spanish Reale coins that were made in crude molds as they have no definition in the details. The maker/makers likely used poor donor coins to begin with and a poor wax when creating the original molds.
