How were you able to detect that area with
all of the restrictions most military areas have
put in place since September 11th? Glad to
see that you could, just curious.
TMC....I have been able to detect certain areas on our local military bases. I contacted base security and talked with the OFFICER IN CHARGE of Security and was given permission. Of course, you have to keep off RESTRICTED AREAS on base, even when I was Active Duty, that was required as well....only those who need to be, are allowed in those areas!
If you are near a military installation, call your Base Security Officer...I had no problems and they have been very accommodating...don't know if being retired military helped me or not....also, some places I was able to detect are only opened during certain times of the year or when functions are going on....where these places were always opened, since 911, are now only opened for functions...so you have to catch them when opened.
Try it...bet you will be surprised. And believe this or not...but when I spoke to the Security Officer, as far as this military base, there were NO LAWS, Rules or Regs that he could locate that restricted Metal Detecting.....I would assume this would apply to all military bases, being they are all Federal Property...I guess I need to further investigate this...hmmm
Good Luck!
Marine1111....great finds!!! Never visited 29 Palms, but alot of my Marine buddies from San Diego would have to go there or Yuma for training....this was back in the 70's...not saying I'm old or anything...that was in my previous life LOL
Good Luck and hope you find lots more wonderful items, be it clad or silver...and if my Marine buddies where there in the 70's....I bet you could find some of that silver change they dropped...
