I found a Mercury Dime last evening (1916). Also in the pic are 2 Indian Heads (1890 and 1905), and 4 "V" Nickels (1899, 1905, 1909, and 1912). All of these have been found in the last 10 days or so.

My house was built around 1930. I've been finding alot of Civil War Relics, coins, etc. Seems like it covers a large time frame.

Nice haul there. Id keep searching, you got to have more coins like that in the yard

:o
I don't suppose you've checked to see if that's a 1916 D Merc, have you???

I hope for you it is!! Nice finds!

Nice finds.

Nothing better than digging up your own yard.

Dig as deep as you want. Go whenever you want. And be as messy as you want.

I bet there's more to be found.

Wow... built in 1930 and you are finding V nickels and Indian Heads.... odd coins to still be there. Congrats! :)

My house was built around the same time but I haven't found any coins at all except two 1981 pennies and a 1970 penny. I guess the previous owners kept a tight grip on their cash! I have found a lot of cool iron relics from when it was a working farm...

Nice finds Digginman!! Have you checked the local library for any information on your
home site? I bet if you look hard enough, maybe it was a Civil War camp site, if that's
so, you might want to look for old winter camp sites. They would be really deep.
It would be worth your while to look into this. In Western & Eastern Magazine they
have told many stories of guys hunting sites like yours.

Keep the pictures coming, you might try a scanner sometime instead of
taking a picture. The coins really come out nice on a scanner.

Great group of old coin finds. The history of your homesite probably dates back to the Civil war era as ringfinder mentioned.A little research may surprise you. Keep on hunting that yard! HH!

I talked to an older neighbor lady yesterday. She can remember when this house was this side of the street. It was all pasture, cornfields, etc. I searched the 1997 Teraserver, and then there wasn't anything on this side of the road. Behind me now is a large subdivision. Most of it was there in 1997. I do have a lot beyond my neighbor's. It has the original barn from my house. The roof is on the ground. I'd like to move it this fall/winter. It's too thick now. I'm sure I'll find more there. I found a ring this afternoon. I'll post it in a few minutes.

My hands were shaking as I turned it over. No "D". Philadelphia mint.
