my self check out lanes are right by the coinstar, so i am less than 5 feet from the coinstar if anyone puts in coins. A cool trick that I have done to some coinstars at other stores is say that one of my coins is stuck in the machine. the person in charge will open the machine more often than not and there is an internal catchall under the feeder wheel. Normally there are ike dollars and other big coins, rejects, and silver in there. also look in the door of the coinstar, ask the person about it. At ours there is a plastic jar or holder that they throw the reject coins in. I have gotten metal casino tokens, ike dollars and even some bent silver from those two places a lot of time.
Unfortunately at the moment my work won't let me open the machine anymore unless there is a jam and they need me to tell them the override code. I just can't get the key at the moment because its locked away. Bummer. But I still have the other coinstars in town to check out.
Hugs and smiles,
