The local Safeway grocery store removed their Coinstar machine in May 2019.

Has anyone else noticed removals of Coinstar machines where they shop?

One of my last interesting Coinstar finds:

Fortunately none of the stores where I routinely check the Coinstars has taken the machines out and hopefully they never will. Did you happen to inquire as to why the machine was removed?

I have noticed a couple of places where they have been replaced with machines which only give credit for the store where they are installed.

I've noticed that my local machines have greatly reduced the number of 100% gift card sponsors. The one at our local Walmart only had two options, otherwise you had to take the 10% hit on getting cash.

Only Safeways have left in my town. :dontknow:

Our Weis Market replaced their CoinStar with a Weis Market version.
Here is my CoinStar Surfing Log!

The Safeway store is being remodeled so the Coinstar machine may return.

:)

Does anyone else think that it is odd that the Coinstars in Walmart do not offer a Walmart gift card as one of the options?

Now that all of the local businesses have been forced to close, our local Walmart "Neighborhood Market" removed all but 1 human operated checkout stand and rearrange the whole front of the store. Now the Coinstar machine sits at what I call the Cattle Gate where every customer has to walk by it to get to a Self Checkout (which I refuse to use). So if anything hits the reject tray, it won't be there for long.

My last good find before the job deletion remodel began was a really crusty 1943 steel penny, but the only one I've ever found.

I found the same thing at the grocery stores. I used to just get a store credit at 100% value, now, I have to get that 100% voucher for another store. I'm just not going to take a 10% hit by getting cash!

Thats crappy complain to management
