Could y'all help to identify what this is and what the emblem/writing on the top is. All I can make out is D or O, ?, S, S, T, G, N, and U.S.A. and although the emblem in the middle looks really familiar I can't place it.

Collar stud is what I'm going with. Your photo's are elongated and I can't make out all that well the markings.

Disston began putting USA on the saw medallions around 1940. Your medallion is from the period roughly between 1940 and 1955.
