Hey folks. Found this yesterday on a Colonial site. Appears to be Colonial period with some type of rope design. I looked diligently, hoping to find the rest of it, but this was all I was able to locate. The little pinhole has me puzzled. What do y'all think?

That's interesting, it's hard to tell from the photo but does the smaller piece fit exactly where you have it lined up?

The hole is were the two or three prong tongue and chape would have been attached, to the spindle :icon_thumright:

Yes, it's a perfect fit.

Nice find. Definately an 18th century shoe buckle. The pin hole is correct, the inner mechanism attached there.

Thanks everyone - I appreciate your comments and ID!

That's a great find to bad you couldn't find the rest of it.

I was using the T2 with the stock coil. I may go back with the little 5" coil to see if I can find the rest of it. The place is loaded w/iron signals.
