Went to my Colonial/early American site today. While the old coin finds have dried up, I'm still pulling plenty of artifacts. Got my third Crotal from here, brass tack and part of an early buckle possibly. I've never found a complete buckle. My favorites were the two flat buttons, one being a treble gilt and my first complete thimble. The mystery find was a possible Swiss coin marked Helvetia 1948. Thanks for looking

Looks like a piece of a colonial buckle. Nice finds. The word you're looking for is chape Sutphin.

Seems like I have dug one of those mystery coins. It is silver? Nice hunt!

Yeap, the inner 'guts' of an 18th C Shoe Buckle.

Unfortunately the coin is of a non precious metal. These coins were demonetized in 2007 so likely a recent drop by someone who just got back from Switzerland since it was shallow and in decent condition.

Pretty cool finda, love finding flat buttons, good job!
